Carly Simpson – Regional Family Advisor
Having first experienced Cued Speech at primary school, Carly developed a lifelong understanding and love of Cueing. During her time at university, Carly used Cued Speech as the subject of a short film that she produced to promote a better understanding and engage a wider audience. She then followed this up by publishing a book called Me to You – Let’s Cue, a first words book aimed at young children. This was a personal endeavour, as Carly wanted to open up the pathways to Cued Speech and to showcase the benefits that Cueing can bring.
The determination to make a difference has seen Carly offering BSL support for events held by local organisations and she is currently working as a Deaf Inclusion Worker in a local school. Bringing together BSL and Cued Speech, Carly aims to inspire and educate children and adults alike. Based in the North East, Carly is excited to begin her new role as Family Support Practitioner so that many others can utilise Cued Speech in a fun, friendly and inclusive way.
