Cue Weekend 2017

Taking place at the Slapton Ley Field Centre in South Devon

Friday 28th July - Sunday 30th July, 2017

This residential weekend is aimed at both professionals and parents and families of deaf babies and children.  With the option of onsite accommodation, this will be an enjoyable and rewarding opportunity for adults to learn or improve their cueing skills in a classroom setting, whilst the children will improve their language skills through nature activities led by instructors from the Slapton Ley Field Centre.  There will be also be an on site crèche.

The Slapton Ley Field Centre:

Slapton Ley is located on the south coast of Devon, with spectacular views across the Channel, making it a popular tourist trap throughout the year.  The Centre is located on the Start Bay coast and surrounded by Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve. The Ley is the largest natural freshwater lake in the South West, separated from the sea by Slapton Sands (a barrier beach and shingle ridge). The surrounding coastline, nearby coastal towns and Dartmoor National Park provide unrivalled opportunities for field courses.

The Cued Speech Association UK has been holding their annual Cue Camp at this destination with great success for  several years and we are lucky enough to have booked it again for a July weekend that will provide a unique learning experience, backlit by the breath-taking Devon coast.  Home-cooked meals will be provided with locally-sourced food products from around the area (vegetarian options available).

If you are looking to learn Cued Speech or simply improve you skills in a friendly and informal setting, this could be just the event for you.

Slapton Ley is located in south Devon, near the picturesque towns of Dartmouth and Kingsbridge.  The nearest train station is Totnes, which is less than three hours from London. There will be ample parking available should you wish to drive.  Buses run to the reserve from nearby towns, and full information about travel can be provided by the Cued Speech Association.
